Larnaca starts eight major projects worth €400 million

The Larnaca District Local Government Organisation has announced eight major infrastructure projects worth €400 million, focusing on sewage systems, flood protection, and sustainable water management.

Currently underway is Phase III of the sewage system, costing €110 million and funded by the EU’s THALEIA 2021–2027 programme, covering Dromolaxia-Meneou, Kiti, Pervolia, and Tersefanou, with completion set for late 2026.

The largest project, Phase IV, valued at €270 million, will serve Aradippou, Livadia, Oroklini, and Pyla, though it faces delays. Work is expected to start in 2027 and finish in 2033, financed by both Cyprus and EU funds. Smaller projects include a €1 million sewage system in Livadia.

Flood protection works are also advancing. In Kamares, a €7 million project that began in 2025 will finish by 2027, alongside a €2 million storm water system. Central Larnaca will also benefit from a €3.4 million flood protection scheme. Additionally, a pumping station at Oroklini seafront will address long-term environmental issues.

These projects aim to protect Larnaca from floods, improve sewage infrastructure, and ensure sustainable urban development.
